Thinking About MotherMind Transform? Start Here
MotherMind Transform Q&A: Your most-asked questions, answered.
❓ What is MotherMind Transform?
💡 On paper, it's a 6-month virtual leadership development and group coaching program for Scientist Mothers.
In practice, it's where powerful mindset shifts happen. Scholars arrive with beliefs absorbed from systems never built for us, and leave seeing themselves, and those systems, differently:
From "I have to choose between being a good mother and a good scientist" to "I get to define what 'good' looks like in both."
From "if I just work harder, I'll catch up" to "my time is finite and precious, and I decide where it goes."
From "I just need to survive this season" to "I'm designing a career and life I actually want to live."
And it's where you gain the skills (and the fire 🔥), to change the culture of STEMM and academic medicine for our generation and the ones that follow.
❓ Who is eligible?
💡 Scientists and researchers at the faculty level or industry equivalent, from any field and at any rank, who identify as Mothers. So far, our Scholars have come from the US and Canada. I would be absolutely delighted to welcome SciMoms from other countries into this next cohort. 🌍
❓ Is it only for Mothers of young children and/or early career scientists?
💡 Not at all. Scholars' children range from infants all the way through young adults. And Scholars span the full career spectrum, from those just starting their labs to tenured full professors. Many people assume this is an early-career program, but it is just as helpful (if not more) for the midcareer transition. If you're asking "what's next?" or "how the hell can I keep this up and do I even want to?", this is a powerful place to answer those questions.
The core leadership competencies and themes apply at every stage, and the group is richer for its diversity of career stage and perspective. Through coaching, each Scholar identifies her own key learnings, insights, and action items, so the program meets you exactly where you are.
❓ How do Scholars pay for it?
💡 Every MotherMind Scholar has used institutional funds, whether startup/discretionary, professional/career development, or departmental support. If you don't have the funds sitting in an account right now, that's the norm, not the exception. Many Scholars have successfully secured funding using my "Make the Ask" template. I’ll link it below.
❓ What is the time commitment?
💡 It works out to less than 1.5 hours per week over 6 months. As one mid-career Scholar put it, the time and effort she spent was far outweighed by the dividends to her personal and professional development.
❓ How do I apply?
💡 There's no application. Just a 30-minute call with me to get your questions answered and make sure it's a good fit for your goals.
