The Strength in Contradictions

I walked past some early spring blooms just like this last week (during an intentional phone-free walk so here’s a photo from the internet 😉)—pushing through the cold, fragile yet determined. A contradiction of seasons. A reminder that growth doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.

This weekend, I’ve been sitting with contradictions like this in my own life:

Feeling exhausted AND deeply committed to my work.

Wanting to be present with my daughters AND needing space to breathe.

Believing in the power of science AND feeling disheartened by the forces working against it.

It’s easy to think we have to choose—either we’re thriving or we’re struggling. Either we’re strong or we’re tired. But the truth is, we live in the tension between both.

These flowers don’t wait for the snow to melt before they start blooming. They thrive in the contrast, in the in-between. And maybe we can, too.

What’s a contradiction you’re holding right now? Let’s remind each other that we don’t have to be just one thing.
